Happy New Year y’all!

A week late but I don’t really care. I’m going to avoid indulging in listing out the 50 ways in which I’m going to better myself this year. Boring. Let’s be real - am I going to stop going to bars alone? Or start wearing pants on Sunday’s? Probably not. But I can take style cues from a darling little tot I’ve become manically obsessed with. Normal.

Alaia Rose is a toddler with more street cred than most fashion bloggers. Dubbed L.A.’s most stylish by Racked, Alaia rocks fresh looks curated by her celebrity stylist mom, Monica Rose.

It may be the fact that I’m approaching prime child bearing years, but I’m totally smitten. I added one of my favorite KC quotes to this solid shot of Alaia. Children after all, in their most simple form, are fearless.

That’s one thing we can all strive for in 2013. xx

As a marketing/PR professional I’m constantly seeking out sources of inspiration - even if brands don’t always buy into alternative activations, they always appreciate “big ideas” (a phrase I hear so often it’s almost painful).

My co-worker and close friend sent through this amazingly powerful interactive video executed by Danish fashion brand, Only. I’ve never seen anything like it and knew I had to share it in this space. Click the photo to link to the landing site.

Hands down favorite 2012 Fall Ad Campaign. The juxtaposition between the muted metallics and the bright sherbert hues on the opposite page is amazing. Such a departure from the lush aesthetic and deep colors filling September issues. Long live McQueen.

Count me in as one of the New Yorkers completely captivated with the recent collaboration between infamous artist, Yayoi Kusama and legendary fashion brand Louis Vuitton. The windows are SICK - must see attraction on Fifth Ave.

Like many artists, Kusama is fueled by obsession; her pieces almost always revolve around polka dots - their infinite nature and shape appealing to both her loyal patrons and unknowing converts.

I think any creative person or artist can relate to this obsession - whether conscious or not it drives, inspires and forces us to evolve all aspects of our work.

Hi friends sorry it’s been so long … been in a bit of a rut lately! Those closest to me know I fear consistency - I know it’s counterintuitive but I honestly thrive on change and while this new chapter has been full of opportunity and promise, I’ve also felt a lack of motivation lately. Maybe I’m adjusting to the normalcy of adulthood? Haha whiny as shit I know!

As a creative person it’s hard for me to be fulfilled when I’m not constantly expressing myself through different extensions - whether it be writing or pursuing my love of fashion and design I’ve realized I need to hold myself accountable and moving forward I’ll do my best to constantly challenge myself to be better about connecting with my creative self.

Since I’ve been lacking inspiration my personal challenge this week is to post a few points of interest and inspiration that excite me. Can’t be that hard right ;-)

I think it’s only healthy to step back once and awhile and allow yourself to be inspired. Our lives are so overly saturated that it’s difficult to let anything seep past the surface.

I recently watched Bill Cunningham New York. I have to be honest; it’s been awhile since something resonated so deeply. The film followed street style legend Bill Cunningham and exposed the real essence of his life’s work. Everyone knows you get dressed for Bill but I had no clue why. Who was this man? What was his story?

In the most poignant yet simple way possible he broke down what I’ve been feeling for years. For Bill, he was so grateful to these people for making statements, taking risks. For making life a little bit more bearable by wearing something extraordinary. It was really quite stunning to see this most raw and humble being light up at capturing the right shot. When we see those moments in real time, a woman wearing the most amazing fur or a man unapologetically sporting 5-inch heels it’s sort of awe-inspiring. You realize in that moment how honest that is; how transparent putting yourself out there can be.

Bill’s always known that.
